Since its establishment, Raksha Nepal has been providing women working in diverse sectors, with health check-up, psychosocial counseling and prevention of STDs. In the same context, on 19th March 2016, Saturday, Raksha Nepal, organized a free blood test for HIV, blood grouping and counseling services in its office premises. The program, technically, was jointly supported by District Public Health Office, Kathmandu, Ministry of Health and Population – Nepal, National AIDS/STD Prevention Centre and AIDS Health Foundation (AHF) Nepal.
At 10:30 am, the program was opened by the Raksha Nepal Chairperson, Menuka Thapa. Out of 500 women, only 380 women were able to test their blood, due to time constraints. The main objective of the program was to aware women and take safety measures from STD and HIV. Besides that it was also to inform each of them about their blood group types. If one has the knowledge about the blood group type, it would be very important during any emergency situation.
Raksha Nepal would like to thank Mr. Bobby Singh of AHF in assisting Raksha Nepal by providing valuable support to make the program successful. Likewise, special thanks to District Public Health Office, National AID/STD Prevention Office for their support. Raksha Nepal wants to coordinate and co-operate in future on similar public awareness and health check-up programs to empower women. Finally, Raksha Nepal family wants to thank the Silver Mountain College School of Hotel Management for proving its premises to organize the program.
