19 December 2015

Raksha Nepal (RN) is a humanitarian organization, which has been working for the sexually exploited girls, women and their children since its establishment in 2004. Its main target is to protect those women and young girls working in the so-called informal entertainment sectors (massage parlors, dance bars and cabin restaurants) from trafficking and sexual violence by enhancing their knowledge, awareness and socio-economic status. Similarly, in the mission of making girls and women free of sexual exploitation, Raksha Nepal is involved and advocates “to make the society free of compulsive prostitution."

It is a well known fact that the Raksha Nepal has been providing support and shelter to the children who are the victims of rape, sexual assault and sexual violence. On the day of 19 December 2015, Nepali film industry’s renowned actress Rejina Uprety visited to Raksha Nepal and spent about two hours time with the children.

During the occasion, she played, danced and interacted with the children. Moreover, she encouraged the children to think always in a positive way. She also promised that she is forever with the Raksha Nepal in fighting against all forms of violence against women and girls.

She also provided many food items to the children and said that she will make her visit often to the Raksha Nepal. Finally, RN wants to thank Ms Rejina for involving with the RN in a campaign to end all forms of violence against women and children and also hope for her continuous support and cooperation in the future.
